Moving into the new year on February 2nd, we are excited to present the dazzling young guitarist, Martha Masters, who will perform Astor Piazolla’s remarkable Histoire du Tango with our own flutist Susan Greenberg. Sound interesting—perhaps even tantalizing? Wait, there’s more! A brand new arrangement of George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess will be per- formed by a tour-de-force piano trio of familiar names to CMP audiences: violinist Roger Wilkie, cellist John Walz, and pianist Dee Stevens.

So, what’s missing? How about a WORLD PREMIERE? You guessed it! We have one for you on April 13th. Our good friend and colleague from Austria, Gernot Wolfgang, has written an amazing sextet for piano and winds that we can’t wait for you to hear, along with master- pieces by Mozart, Beethoven and Hindemith.

...to our “lucky” 13th season! Chamber Music Palisades’ 2009-10 series unfolds on October 20th with everyone’s favorite Schubert quintet, the “Trout,” that will showcase three of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s leading musicians: assistant concertmaster Bing Wang, principal violist Carrie Dennis, and principal cellist Peter Stumpf. Joining them will be the ever-wonderful bassist Nico Abondolo.

Then on December 15th comes the fascinating new work by Morton Subotnick, now, then and forever, together with a full performance of Igor Stravinksy’s monumental L’Histoire du Soldat, featuring virtuoso violinist Ida Levin as the object of the Devil’s desire as narrated by Bryan Torfeh from England’s Royal Shakespeare Company.

We’ll see you soon—after all, are we not Mad for Classical Music?
