
Cantilena Trio
After a stellar concert on June 14, Chamber Music Palisades presents another FREE family-friendly concert on June 21 starting at 4:00 p.m. The Cantilena Trio features Santa Monica Symphony principal flutist and former flutist with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Susan Greenberg, guitarist Kenton Youngstrom, active as a recording artist, producer, composer, arranger and educator, and tenor Jon Lee Keenan, who has appeared as a featured soloist in each season of the Los Angeles Master Chorale since 2007.
The program features solos, duos and trios, highlighting different combinations of flute, tenor and guitar with music ranging from Bach and Mozart to de Falla and Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
The venue is the Brentwood Presbyterian Church at 12000 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles, 90049, located at the corner of Bundy and San Vicente. Free parking is available in the underground parking lot located off Bundy, on the east side, south of San Vicente close to Montana. Overflow parking is available in the nearby CoMerica Bank lot on the north side of San Vicente east of Bundy. The entrance to the concert is the church door closest to the corner of San Vicente and Bundy, facing San Vicente. Reservations are not needed.

Free Family Concert
Join us on June 14 from 4 to 5 pm for a special FREE Saturday afternoon concert with the unique combination of duets and trios for clarinet, violin, flute and piano, featuring long-time Los Angeles Philharmonic principal clarinetist Michele Zukovsky, multi-genre violin virtuoso Stephanie Yu, Santa Monica Symphony principal flutist, and former flutist with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Susan Greenberg, along with Pierre Long-Tao Tang, pianist-conductor from Hong Kong and lecturer of music at University of San Diego. Works include the fiery Violin Sonata No. 7 by Beethoven, the poetic Violin Sonata No. 2 by Brahms, trio arrangements of Bizet's theatrical masterpiece Carmen, and Debussy’s Petite Suite, along with modern arrangements of ragtime by Joplin showcasing the clarinet, and solo piano works by Rachmaninoff and Poulenc.

Cantilena Duo
Join us Saturday, May 17, at 3:30 pm for another free matinee concert presented by Chamber Music Palisades (CMP), with the Cantilena Duo performers Kenton Youngstrom on guitar and CMP co-founder/artistic director Susan Greenberg on flute and piccolo, featuring works for both solo guitar and for flute and guitar by French, Spanish, Brazilian and Argentinian composers.
Flutist Susan Greenberg was a member of the LA Chamber Orchestra for 36 years and a frequent soloist on both flute and piccolo. She is presently the principal flutist with the Santa Monica Symphony and the Vicente Chamber Orchestra. She is the flute professor at Pepperdine University and the Artistic Director of Chamber Music Palisades. She has recorded for over 500 motion pictures and many television shows.
Kenton Youngstrom, award-winning guitarist, composer, arranger and educator has performed and recorded classical, jazz and rock music around the world. His most recent recordings include “Voices of the Collection, Vols. 1&2,” “Jazz Roads Suite,” and the rerelease of “Virtuoso Music for Three Guitars” available on all streaming platforms and his own artist channel on YouTube.
This performance will be held at Brentwood Presbyterian Church, 12000 San Vicente Blvd. Los Angeles 90049. Reservations are not needed. Please note that this is a different venue than our evening concert series and our previous afternoon concerts. The concert is sponsored by Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles. 28th Season Opener
Guitar, Vocal Artists, and More
Join us on Wednesday, October 16, at 8:00 pm, in the sanctuary of St. Matthew’s Parish for the first concert of Chamber Music Palisades’ 28th season. This concert will feature guitarist Kenton Youngstrom, faculty at Colburn Community School, performing solo works by Villa-Lobos and joined by Susan Greenberg, principal flute at Santa Monica Symphony and long-time former flutist of Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in a duet by Castelnuovo-Tedesco. There will also be a special collection of enchanting songs by Handel, Ravel, Berlioz and Copland, featuring soprano Elissa Johnston and tenor Jon Lee Keenan, both soloists with the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The vocal artists are joined by Grant Gershon (piano), artistic director of the LA Master Chorale and conductor of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
